Koko’s 14th birthday
Koko, the inspiration for Koko in the Other Coast strip turned 14 on April 27th. He’s slowed down considerably, snoozes on one of his many dog beds around the house most of the day and has to be helped in and out of the car, but he still eats like a horse. With any luck, he’ll be celebrating a birthday next year!

Sakura, Koko’s 12 year-old Papillon sister, who is also in the Other Coast comic strip has been diagnosed with bladder stones. Three really big rocks! Poor little girl. She goes in for surgery tomorrow morning (May 3) to have them removed. We had no idea she had them, but going online and looking at the symptoms, it’s obvious that’s what has been bothering her. And we thought it was a bladder infection. Those Papillons are tough little dogs and don’t show they’re in pain. Now Koko, he whines if his dinner isn’t the right temperature…
